Bangkok Community Theatre will present The Essential Marriage of Figaro at the British Club on 6, 7, 13, 14 March 2020.  Mozart’s comic opera will be performed as a studio production with a cast of 6.  The opera will be sung in English. Tickets are 1,200bht per person and includes a 3 course buffet dinner.  A cash bar will be available.

The Essential Marriage of Figaro tells the core plot of Mozart’s wonderful opera “The Marriage of Figaro” and uses Mozart’s original, beautiful and tuneful, score.

“The Marriage of Figaro” continues the plot of “The Barber of Seville” several years later, and recounts a single “day of madness” in the palace of Count Almaviva near Seville, Spain. Rosina is now the Countess. The Count Almaviva is a bullying, skirt-chasing baritone. Having gratefully given Figaro a job as head of his servant-staff, he is now persistently trying to exercise his droit du seigneur – his right to bed a servant girl on her wedding night – with Figaro’s bride-to-be, Susanna, who is the Countess’s maid. He keeps finding excuses to delay the civil part of the wedding of his two servants, which is arranged for this very day.

Figaro, Susanna, and the Countess conspire to embarrass the Count and expose his scheming. Through Figaro’s and Susanna’s clever manipulations, the Count’s love for his Countess is finally restored. All is forgiven.

Ticket must be purchased in advance of each performance.  No tickets will be sold at the door. All tickets include the buffet dinner; no “show-only” tickets.

The production is directed by Ian Robinson, Tony Newman as Musical Director and Simon Green as Assistant Musical Director and produced by Don Harrelson.

Suitable for ages 12+
