About the Show

Art is a witty and perceptive comedy about art and friendship. Serge buys a large, expensive all white painting. His friends, Marc and Yvan, don’t know what to make of this. Has Serge gone crazy? Marc is horrified, but Yvan, wants to please both Marc and Serge. Things go from bad to worse with hilarious and eye-opening results.

The play, written by Yasmina Reza, premiered on 28th October 1994 at Comédie des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The English-language adaptation, translated by Christopher Hampton, opened in London’s West End on 15 October 1996.
