BCT offers a range of workshops ranging from acting to producing throughout the year. All BCT members may attend for free and these are open to non-members of BCT for a nominal entry fee, which makes them a great way to find out more if you’re thinking about joining us.
Membership
Whether you love being on stage, behind the scenes or in the audience, BCT is for you. English doesn’t have to be your first language, and you’re welcome whatever your level of experience. As a member you’re encouraged to take part in BCT shows and activities however you like, even if that’s just to meet new friends.
2022 Bob Awards: “It’s All in the Details”
For our next category in this year’s BOB Awards. . .
Our first nominee is Pear Kulthanan from The Hidden Killer in BCT Shorts Volume 2. With the Killer’s POV, we observer Pear hysterically running away from a bright corridor into the darkness of the next room. But during the first take, Pear thought: “Oh, this is way too dark for filming” and stopped mid-chase to turn the lights on and then continued to run. Perhaps for the Killer to better see her? Totally comedy blooper.
The second nomination goes to the entire cast and crew of BCT Shorts Volume 2: A Novel Idea for ruining the shoot. Yes, you read that correctly. Every single one of the actors (Hannah Davis, Mariska White, Sneha Susan Jacob, Mary Anne Cree) and also the director (Bonnie Zellerbach) managed to ruin at least one take on the filming date. The team were determined to get it in the can in a single take and yet time after time a different person would manage to ruin it so much that it became a running joke!
The third nominee is Jacob Nyenhuis who basically played himself in Abu in BCT Shorts Volume 2. In the scene where Jacob discovers that his bear, Abu, can talk, Jacob faints and hits the floor. End Scene. However, his faint was so good, he cracked the glass panel of the closet as he fell. And, to add insult to injury, his fly was open!
Rick Pokrajen-Harmon is our fourth nominee. Rick stepped up the quality of the weekly online play readings in 2021 by voluntarily preparing a sound design for each play. The most hilarious of these was the sfx of a flushing toilet in Picasso at the Lapin Agile which set all the readers into gales of laughter.
Let’s hear it for our fifth nominee, Susan Sneha Jacob, who answered the call for new Club Night hosts by developing a Virtual Playground just for BCT. Did you check it out? Sneha created a world where BCT members could walk, drink, make cocktails, sing karaoke, perform scenes and more, all with their own little avatars. What’s more, if you didn’t want to hear what someone was saying, all you had to do was direct your avatar to walk out of earshot! How is that for the perfect detail!
Our final nominee is none other than Sev Herbert who played a distraught parent in the BCT Shorts Volume 2 production, A Sign. Sev has been nominated at the person most likely to have his lines stuck on post-it notes on his computer and hide the reading of them by pretending he is crying! In spite of the above, he gave a great performance!
The winner will be announced on the private members Facebook page and in our email list!
