The second category in this year’s BOB Awards is… WORD!
Dan O’Shea as the director of COVID COUPLES – Remember those 33 badly dressed onscreen volunteers mentioned earlier? Dan gave them 15 seconds to complain to camera about things that their significant other did that bothered them….. and clearly they had a lot on their minds as they went on and on and on and on…..he literally could not shut them up. It must have been cathartic!
Danny Wall for keeping a straight face during the 2020 online play reading of the play he wrote, And Then There Was Santa, when virtually none of the readers could pronounce the name of a key character “Mr. Belznickle.” Over the course of 90 minutes, there were more than 10 variations of the name: Bezzynick, Bellsy, Blessnickle, Bleznib, Beezlebub… The list goes on!
Betsy Palmer for her Russian accent in the online play reading of Daisy Pulls It Off… Her accent was so good that she was typecast as an old Russian man 6 months later in Laughter on the 23rd floor. Oh. and she nailed it.
Playwrights: Justin Lucas, Jesse Ryan Todd, Dan O’Shea (twice) Jacob Nyenhuis and Cian Green, for showing us how to use our words. All five of them stepped up and wrote original material for BCT. Jacob, Justin, Jesse and Dan wrote plays for BCT SHORTS: Volumes 2 & 3 (Abu by Jacob, Breastfeeding is the Bomb by Justin, With the Best Intentions by Jesse, Covid Couples and Two Kings by Dan,) and Cian wrote the short comedy horror film Go! Yes, there are giants walking among us; you all rock!
Sea Thaicharoen in her role as director for BCT Shorts: WYWH for her unfailingly cheerful bit of encouragement before every take “You got this!” It just speaks to her character as a director, with so much love and positive vibes to give to her cast.
Dan O’Shea as an actor in BCT Shorts : The Birds are Feeding Me for his eloquent summation of a disastrous practice run: “Well, that was Shit.” Dan is a man of few words.
The winner will be in tomorrow’s email and on our Private Members Facebook group.
