The next category in this year’s BOB Awards is… Party Hearty!
Our first nominee is none other than Suman Tharan who flew down to Bangkok for the weekend specifically so he could wear his sexy reindeer costume at the BCT “Friends of Rudolph” Christmas party. The costume was fab, but he did spoil it just a tad by repeatedly complaining “My corset’s too tight!”
Our next nomination also comes from the BCT Friends of Rudolph Party. Let’s face it, no holiday party is complete without someone stepping up and playing the games and acting absolutely ridiculous to help everyone else loosen up. And this past December we can thank Mark Fisher for the hysterical Olaf costume and both Mark and Ben Heffernan and proudly wearing their oversized and somewhat phallic balloon antlers both during and after the Reindeer Antler Balloon game. They know how to party hearty!
Kristoffer (Toff) Cabuyao is nominated in this category with a sub-heading of ‘Best Desecration of a Director’. At the Video party for the first round of BCT Shorts in 2020, Toff managed to spill his entire plate of loaded nachos – salsa, cheese, the whole kit and cabooodle – all down the shirt of director Rory Breaker-Morant. A lengthy adjournment to the washroom followed, after which Mr. Breaker-Morant emerged somewhat damp but nacho-free. Moreover, Toff never did get to eat any nachos.
It must have been a very good party because our third nominee is none other than BCT’s own chairwoman, Bonnie Zellerbach, who attended the same party in 2020 in her capacity as the Director of two shorts: Blacktop Jungle and The Birds are Feeding Me. Bonnie caught her foot in the hem of her trousers and went catapulting across the room only to land on top of an unsuspecting guest who graciously broke her fall. The pratfall was reportedly spectacular and luckily nacho-free.
Our penultimate nominee is for party behaviour not at a party…. Sama Ratnaike for method acting during the rehearsals for the BCT shorts Volume 2 play Blame It on Barbie. Sama got so into her part as the wine-swigging mother that she got tipsy at rehearsals!!! She switched to Verbena for the actual shoot….so she says.
Our final Party Hearty nominee is Anonymous – the nomination goes to whomever scooped up the Bob ballots at the BCT Christmas party this past December in a Most Heinous Attempt at Election Fraud. Nice try, guys! 🤨
