Online Play Reading: The Dinner Party

Tuesday August. 2nd at 7:30pm (7:15pm sign in)

Bangkok Community Theatre is continuing their evening online play reading sessions in 2022.  Since BCT is also working to get back to live productions, we will try to hold two online play readings each month rather than 4 as we did in the past. Each time we choose a new script and share it with the participants in advance. Then we get together and read the play aloud on zoom, regularly switching up the roles so that everyone gets a chance to read, if they wish. Some BCT friends don’t want to read; they just like to listen. That’s okay, too.

ABOUT THE PLAY

The Dinner Party is a one-act comedy written by Neil Simon, about marriage and divorce. This is Simon’s 31st play.  In an interview in The New York Times (as reported by talkinbroadway.com), Simon said that he was trying to write a play very different from anything he had done before, and that he had the concept of creating a farce up to a certain point, and then instead of continuing the farce, took a turn to where it became quite serious. He wanted to break the concept that farces can never get real, even for a minute.
Please confirm ASAP whether you will join (and if you want to read or not) so that we can send you both the link to the room and the link to download the script. Knowing attendance numbers makes it much easier to divide the parts so please RSVP soon. Remember to log in by 7:15 at the latest so that we can assign parts and start reading at 7:30pm at the latest. If possible, please also keep your camera on and stay for the entire reading to show your support for the work and all the readers.
Note: BCT Online Play Readings are for Adults and Students age 16+ unless otherwise specified.  If you are not already a BCT member, please consider joining to help support  the society. Email: membership@bangkokcommunitytheatre.comfor details.
