We are excited to announce that BCT will be holding open auditions on Sunday, August 30th for performers who want to take part in our next creative project: BCT SHORTS 2020 – an online festival of one act plays
We’d love to see you there!
What are BCT Shorts?
BCT Shorts 2020 is the annual BCT Fringe Festival in the time of Covid-19. We have put together a series of one-act plays that are approximately ten minutes long; however, rather than performing them in a theatre as we have done in the past, this year we will film them and stream them online. The staging is minimal, the creativity is maximum and we aim to create a supportive environment for everyone involved. Timing will vary play by play but for the most part, rehearsals will take place in September and the filming and screening will happen in October.
Essentially, BCT Shorts are a great opportunity for anyone who wants to perform, including those who are new to performing, haven’t done it for a while or are just a bit nervous as it is designed to give those people a fun way into acting with BCT. That said, we also love to have experienced actors and veteran BCT members involved too!
Great! But who can audition?
There are 8 plays to be cast so there are plenty of roles available and they are suitable for anyone over 16 who can cope with an English language script! English does NOT have to be your first language. Enthusiasm is more important than experience so we don’t care if you’ve never acted before. Some of the plays have mature content and language; the minimum age for this production is 16 years old and several plays require ‘mature’ performers.
That’s me! Tell me more about the auditions!
The auditions will be held on Sunday, 30th of August at Bistro 33, on Sukhumvit 33.
Auditions begin at 13:00, with registration at 12:30
Auditions will be conducted in groups and you will be asked to act from a script and probably do some improvisation or movement work. If this sounds daunting don’t worry! The atmosphere is very informal and everyone is very supportive and helpful.
I’m in! How do I sign up for auditions?
To register for auditions, please email: shorts@bangkokcommunitytheatre.com We will confirm your registration and provide you with an audition form as well as a list of the plays and characters.
I’m interested but I cannot attend on the 30th…
In light of the social distancing concerns, we are also offering an opportunity for video submissions rather than live auditions. If you would like to audition by video, please email: shorts@bangkokcommunitytheatre.com for next steps.
Please do share this information with anyone you know who might be interested in auditioning.
We look forward to seeing you at auditions!
PS – please note that clicking “going” on this event does not count as registration for auditions. Please email us!!
