Bangkok Community Theatre holds regular weekday evening online play readings at 7:30pm. Each week we choose a new script and share it with the participants in advance. Then we get together and read the play aloud on zoom, regularly switching up the roles so that everyone gets a chance to read, if they wish. Some BCT friends don’t want to read; they just like to listen. That’s okay, too.
These play readings are open to anyone who wants to join age 16+! Just email: RSVP@bangkokcommunitytheatre.com to get the link. It’s free and a great way to meet some other people who enjoy live theatre and to practice your performing skills as well.. Please join us; tell your friends.
On Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 7:30pm (7:15 sign in), please join us to read Thornton Wilder’s classic comedy “Ah, Wilderness!”
ABOUT THE PLAY
Ah, Wilderness! is a comedy by American playwright Eugene O’Neill that premiered on Broadway at the Guild Theatre on October 2, 1933. It differs from a typical O’Neill play in its happy ending for the central character, and depiction of a happy family in turn of the century America. It is O’Neill’s only well-known comedy. The play takes place on the Fourth of July 1906 and focuses on the Miller family, presumably of New London, Connecticut. The main plot deals with the middle son, 16-year-old Richard, and his coming of age in turn-of-the-century America. “Perhaps the most atypical of the author’s works, the play presents a sentimental tale of youthful indiscretion in a turn-of-the-century New England town.”
