Exciting news! BCT will be creating Volume 3 to add to the ongoing series of short filmed plays, and that means we need directors!!

Have you ever thought about directing a show but were worried about a lack of experience, the time commitment, or not having the know-how when it comes to theatre? Or maybe you have experience directing theatre and want a new challenge? Perhaps you’re an experienced director and fancy a new project? Or you’re not in Bangkok right now but would love to direct something for BCT? BCT Shorts 2021 Volume 3: A Laugh A Day! could be the perfect opportunity for you!

We are looking for directors for a series of comedy productions to be made this summer on Zoom. We can provide some editing support and virtual backgrounds as needed but, in general, this is an easy, low-stress, low-risk project for new and experienced directors alike. Don’t worry if you’ve never directed before – there is a first time for everything!

The theme for Volume 3 is short Zoom comedies, so everything must be filmed on Zoom (allowing directors and actors to be anywhere in the world,) be a comedy, and be under 10 minutes including credits. That’s it! Your first time directing will never be easier than this with everything simplified to a Zoom window: no major set pieces, no special lights, no selling tickets – even the blocking will have to be simplified to fit the Zoom format. And this is also a shout-out to BCT members no longer living in Bangkok as you can direct, rehearse and film with us from anywhere in the world!

We are putting together a selection of short plays and scenes that we have found to share as possible material for prospective directors to consider if you’re interested but not sure what you’d direct, but we’re also interested in checking out any material you might already have in mind.
