BCT's Online Play Reading of Arsenic and Old Lace @ Online | Bangkok | Thailand

Bangkok Community Theatre holds regular weekday evening online play readings at 7:30pm. Each week we choose a new script and share it with the participants in advance. Then we get together and read the play aloud on zoom, regularly switching up the roles so that everyone gets a chance to read, if they wish. Some BCT friends don’t want to read; they just like to listen. That’s okay, too.

These play readings are open to anyone who wants to join! Just email: RSVP@bangkokcommunitytheatre.com to get the link. It’s free and a great way to meet some other people who enjoy live theatre. Please join us; tell your friends.

On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 at 7:30pm (7:15 sign in), please join us to read Neil Joseph Kesselring’s dark comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

ABOUT THE PLAY: Arsenic and Old Lace is a dark comedy by American playwright Joseph Kesselring, written in 1939. It has become best known through the subsequent film adaptation starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra. The play was directed by Bretaigne Windust, and opened on Broadway at the Fulton Theatre on January 10, 1941.

THE STORY: We meet the charming and innocent ladies who populate their cellar with the remains of socially and religiously “acceptable” roomers; the antics of their nephew who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt; and the activities of the other nephew—these require no further description or amplification here. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is a must for all nonprofessionals, a ready-made comedy hit.
